Mention Hank Pym in comics circles, and everyone just goes "oh yeah, the guy who flipped out and hit his wife that one time". But he was hardly the only hero to have a breakdown like that, and aside from that incident, he and Janet had a generally good marriage.

AAH. Finished picture! First one in what feels like ages. I've been profoundly uninspired.

Nice picture! Sure, Hank's not perfect but neither is Jan, or anyone else. But they are truly heroic and super.

I really despise Bendis for what he did to them.

What did he do?
Dave-Dreamer Featured By Owner Nov 19, 2013

He dredged up an old plot that had been resolved YEARS ago.   (A frustrated Hank just lost it and he hit Jan once. ONLY once. And he faked an attack to show the Avengers he still had what it takes to be one.  Hank was thrown out. Jan divorced him.  Eventually Hank redeemed himself and became an Avenger again.  He and Jan were getting along fine too. They didn't remarry but they were a couple again. Or at least seeing each other.  It's been years since I read a Pre-Bendis)  Bendis comes along and  brings up the "wife-beater" plot, breaks them up, has Jan sleeping with Hawkeye and, well, just stuff I hated.

I've been reading the Avengers non-stop since the Beast first joined up wayyy back when.  We are talking decades here.  Thick and thin. High and low.   Bendis shows up and I wind up dropping them like used toilet paper.  That's how strongly I dislike his so called style.

I don't know the man. But as a writer of comic books I can't STAND the man. Everything he touches turns to crap as far as I'm concerned.  Some people like him.  God knows why.   But I don't and never will.  Not as a writer of comic books at any rate.

Wait, was he the guy who wrote Avengers Disassembled?

That's the one.

Soooooooo... Marvel gonna bring Janet back?

I mean, let's think about this:

-Janet is now one of the protagonists of the heavily-sucessful Marvel TV show "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes". It would be very bad bussiness for Marvel to have all the fans of the current cartoon show pick up the comics only to find out that Janet is dead.

-What better way to generate hype for the upcoming movie "The Avengers" than by bring back Janet?

-Janet is a major superhero. She has history, going back to the 60s incarnation of the Avengers. She is one of the oldest (in real world timing) and most famous superheroines in the Marvel Universe.

Those kind of heroes NEVER stay dead. Remember when Captain America died? When Superman died? Or Batman, Donna Troy, Barry Allen, Mockingbird, Bucky or the Doom Patrol? Hell, every single X-Men major player has died at least once.

Janet is a major player, and major players don't stay dead. Good superheroes never die.
